Marks, Dragon or otherwise
Dragonmarks are what make Eberron. They are the only thing that keep its houses in power, and they provide amazing RP to use.
Any ideas for a new dragon mark? I've been muddling over this one for a whileand i haven't come up with anything yet. I saw on the D&D boards that somebody came up with the dragon mark of Prophesy; I really like that idea.
Then I tried to come up with a framework for how a Dragonmark works.
Minor scaleable power(Arcane mark, up to Symbol of *Blank*)
Adaptable power (Mage armor, and others)
not combat oriented. (see below)
The dragonmarked houses revolve around thie mark with subtle powers, they are economic powerhouses, that make little things in life easier, and make the big things possible.

Kythiri(sp?) and yeah that is an interesting idea...and working off that I have an idea as well
Normal dragonmakr show up acording to a preset defined track of power. AS your mark increaes in power it gains set power. But the aberrant marks aren't like that.
The war of the mark happened to cleanse the world of al the aberrant marks, and keep the bloodlines pure. Before the aberrant mark bearers were destroyed they took over Sharn(yes that Sharn) and held it for two years.
The King and queen of the aberrant marks weilded obscene power, the queen was called the lady of the plague.
But in the Eberron manual they list all aberrant powers as being level 0 or 1 .. this to me is not the power of the aberrant mark.
Most people who get aberrant marks hide them, and never think about them...even curse them
But if a person ebraces their aberrant mark, the power of the mark is instead of being set by a bloodline, is bent to the will of the wielder. Imagine using magic that no mage has ever seen without using and spells. that is the power of an aberrant mark
Well, I can't think of any ideas for "new (i have no idea how to do italics)" dragonmarks, but I have noticed something. Is it just me, or does the Mark of Storms not seem to fit the theme of what the dragonmarks are? I mean, the other ones are kind of actions and such that are common to civilization in one way or another (don't mention shadow, its related...), so da'aeron's idea is a good one, you should look at ideas that aren't so... positive. I like the chaos idea, work from there.
